VITICULTURE & WINEMAKING:
The grapes for this wine were sourced from the meticulously attended Angove family vineyards and other premium Riverland growers. Soils are predominantly red sandy loam over limestone, on gently undulating east west ridges.
The 2011 Vintage was mild; without heatwaves but with semi-regular rainfall
to keep the grapes fresh and juicy. This mild year has been great for aromatic varietal expression and has allowed us to harvest the fruit with excellent flavour intensity. The vigorous Sauvignon Blanc really benefited from this mild and even growing season which lead to a juicy natural acidity contributing to excellent palate weight and flavour persistence overall.
Picked late at night to harvest the grapes as cold as possible the grapes were transported to the winery and pressed using modern membrane tank presses. After cold settling the clear juice was carefully racked to cooled fermentation tanks and inoculated with selected yeasts. Cool fermentation was followed by minimal handling, filtration and bottling at the Angove winery.
WINEMAKERS’ NOTES:
Pale straw with attractive green hues. Herbaceous and tropical characters leap from the glass with some lime and lemon aromas following. Clean crisp flavours of tropical fruits abound with some light gooseberry/herbaceous notes and a long full clean finish.

“Angove’s reasonably priced wines usually impress for value, making them regular visitors to this column. This South Australian Riverland sauvignon blanc begins with fragrant floral aromas, as well as the more usual suggestions of tropical fruits and citrus. The clean, refreshing palate is light and spring-like. Simple but appealing.”
James Halliday Australian Wine Companion - 2011 Edition - 4 Stars 88 Points
"Skilled winemaking, including the use of a selected yeast, gives the wine clear varietal character in a gently tropical spectrum to start with, finishing with cleansing, grassy acidity."
Paddy Kendler's Top 20 Brands Guaranteed To Deliver On Taste - Herald Sun - 30.12.08 - Page 27 - LONG ROW RANGE
Angove's offers the dependable budget brand Butterfly Ridge, as well as the Nine Vines and Vineyard Select ranges, but Long Row is my pick of the pack. Chardonnay and sauvignon blanc are invariably huge value and shiraz and cabernet sauvignon over-deliver on quality at a modest price.
The Age - Ralph Kyte-Powell - 26.11.08 - 3.5 Stars
No-fuss refreshment is what this young sauvignon blanc is all about. Tropical fruit and gooseberry aromas are fresh and zesty, and the palate is light and juicy with a whisper of sweetness and a clean, vibrant finish.

Rated 'Good'
'There's an intriguing character on the nose of fresh herbs ('lemon myrtle' said one panel member, 'peppermint' claimed another. Fascinating, I thought). It's bright and vibrant, a little lacking in concentration but a pleasing drink.'
Geelong Advertiser - Phillip Stubbs & Rebecca Tucker - 30.08.08 - 7.7/10
This is a bargain with a capital B for a wine under $10, packed with great fruit character and presented with such finesse it will find a place at many parties, dinners and barbecues. The opening is typical cut grass and gooseberry aromas with tangy lime acid as the support act.
The West Australian - 21.08.08 - 86/100
Very much in the leaner racier mould. Tightly controlled with its racy acidity, yet the flavour intensity fills the mouth and sustains it to a very long finish. Aperitif style. Pretty good.
Murray Pioneer - Craig Treloar - 12.08.08
"For example Angove's Long Row sauvignon blanc punches well above its price range and is indicative of how flexible Riverland wine production systems are.

Pleasant, uncomplicated refreshment is what Angoves' Long Row wines are about, and this Murray Valley sauvignon delivers well. A light style with some tropical and green-skinned fruit aromas, its juicy palate hasn't great depth but it is clean and zippy with an attractive whisper of fruit sweetness in the middle and a fruity tang at the end.
Herald Sun - Paddy Kendler - 1.7.2008 - 4.5 STARS
This year's vintage in South Australia was a challenging experience for most winemakers because of drought, excessive heat and water restrictions, but the team at Angove's has managed a good result here. Some juicy passionfruit, hints of green grass and melons and perhaps a nudge of nectarine are evident in this lively, light-bodied dry white. Reasonably priced and highly recommended for instant gratification.
Bairnsdale Advertiser - 18.01.08 - Mick Plozza
'The Angove's Long Row Sauvignon Blanc Vintage is just bursting with flavours of passionfruit and fruit salad. Not in the New Zealand style and not the same intensity but still a nice refreshing easy drinking Sauvignon Blanc. A little more delicate than the previous vintage. This wine's herbaceous lifted floral and gooseberry aromas shout Sauvignon Blanc. It has a crisp, clean palate that exhibits ripe, melon and apple flavours with a lingering fruit filled finish. This release is ideal with a fresh summer salad or a spicy grilled chicken breast.'

VITICULTURE & WINEMAKING:
The grapes for this wine were sourced from the Angove family vineyards and premium growers in the cool Wrattonbully region of the Limestone Coast. Soils are predominantly red sandy loam over limestone, on gently undulating east west ridges.
An ideal vintage with some good rain events and improved inflows into the Murray Darling basin allowed vines to be well tended during the growing season. A short heat spike in November lead to some irregular flowering and set and subsequently reduced yield. The remainder of the growing period was excellent with abundant sunshine for ripening, yet cool nights to help retain flavour and natural acidity.
Picked early to take advantage of the cool season and accentuate the herbaceous aromas of the Sauvignon Blanc, the grapes sourced from our own vineyards and growers in Wrattonbully, were macerated for a short period on skins before being gently pressed. Cool fermentation using yeast selected to liberate aromatics produced a lovely crisp fresh wine which has lots of moreish flavour.
